No water privatisation in Europe!
Created on 24 January at 11:36 by Laura Marangoni
Water, as a common good, it's a universal human right and therefore can't be treated as a commodity. The European Commission, instead, wants to privat.. »
Maurizio Barrella no one can sell water
15 March at 5:22
Christopher Moore As is common, 'water' is two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen, but it's also phenomenally more than just a chemical compound ... water — in its simplest form — is a survival and cultural requirement! It is one of the most vital ingredients for life, along with sunlight, and despite there being an abundance of it, our inherent need for water, plus the cumbersome modes of available access in some countries makes it a very delicate thing for leaders to play around with. Governments may wish to treat us like counter pieces or toiling products (who occasionally vote) but individual people are free-flowing citizens, and sentient beings should be free to drink water anywhere, whenever they choose.

Rebecca Parker I don't ride at Longwood but I don't agree it should be demolished as it will be another competition venue closed. Not to mention rehoming 60 horses. I'm doing a tv project at university about this and was wondering if any people against this would mind being asked a few questions. Please email me on RebeccaParker93@gmail.com if you have any strong opinions about this

Charlie McManus Please don't. Build elsewhere. Enough land has already been selfishly spoiled.
10 January at 9:58
Glynis Cox my generation.....my childrens generation ....and now my grandchildren's generation have all enjoyed competing at Longwood EC. please dont end this enjoyment for so many!!!
25 November at 20:03
Olivia Smith Longwoods been my main competition centre for a long time now,i went to my first show there. Longwood is the best place for children to start out on their ponies! Compared to other showgrounds Longwoods staff are all friendly and welcoming they have a variety of heights for different ages and abilities meaning every ability can compete there. It would be extremely sad if we lost another good competition centre!
25 November at 13:36
Kirsty Ainslie Longwood EC has been my showground for years, i took my first horse there and rode at my first show there, it is the only local showground which holds local friendly shows regularly which allow people and horses of all abilities to compete and have fun, as well as offering a riding school to teach people to ride. Longwood should not be taking away for housing, we already have too many houses spoiling the planets beauty! LEAVE LONGWOOD ALONE! THINK OF THE PEOPLE AND HORSES for once!!!
21 November at 20:41
Michelle Hutley It is obvious to me that the people who have supposedly researched this area with a view to redeveoping it for residential purposes have not done their job very well. Longwood EC provides a valuable community service to people of all ages who would probably not have another similar facilty in the local area. I urge you to listen and learn from the people who both visit and work at Longwood before it is too late.
21 November at 20:00
Tabby Orlans Leave longwood alone :( where will everyone go to shows and learn how to ride? Everyone loves it why ruin it.. and people will have homeless ponies!!! its not fair !
21 November at 19:34
Debbie Brazil It's a nature reserve, surely that should stop the build before all natural areas are taken by development, when will you ever be satisfied!
21 November at 17:16
Donna Douglas You have tried this so many times before and we will keep fighting you on it. Longwood is not for more houses. Build them somewhere else!!

Stop now wolf hunting in Siberia
Created on 18 January at 16:33 by Laura Marangoni
Mr President of the Autonomous Republic of Saha-Yakutia, Yegor Borisov. We ask you something: instead of permitting the hunting of wolves please take .. »
Christopher Moore The Wolves are certainly not overpopulated; if anything they need support and care both for the protection of the number of migrating or stray animals, and in order to act as an example for the future. The decision to cull thousands of wolves is based on a reactionary-induced irrational motive, which is against the natural instinct of the wolves, and considering that The Sakha Republic (the size of India!) has thousands of square miles with which to work, the permitted hunt seems even more cynical to comprehend. To massacre any species is dreadful, but it's doubly awful for one that holds such significance, as a symbol, as a cultural icon in fiction, as a historical relationship with the likes of the Native Americans and other Indigenous peoples, as well as a fascinating evolution that paved the way for domesticated dogs. Furthermore — within the last week — a new study of dog genetics published in the journal 'Nature' shows differences in dog genes involved in starch metabolism, compared with those of wolves, and reveals that dogs became "man's best friend" much more recently than previously thought. Please refrain from this killing!

SUPPORT THE INTRODUCTION OF SAME-SEX MARRIAGE
Created on 11 December at 9:54 by Laura Marangoni
We are strongly willing the introduction of same-sex marriage. In a democratic society, everyone should be equal before the law. This means grant.. »
Christopher Moore I wholedheartely agree! This goes beyond the idea of marriage, it's about acceptance, palpably changing attitudes, and moving one step closer to the nontrivial 'true' meaning of the word "equality." It will not completely stop the violent abuse, psychological trauma, and cruel homphobic bullying that both gay and lesbian couples (along with any associated children) face everyday from all around the world, but within this democratic state ... the introduction of same-sex marriage is a promising stepping stone in the right direction.
